PO Box 4300, Narre Warren South, Vic 3805,  Australia

Providing Happy Weddings for nearly 20 Years

Legal Requirements & Procedures

You need to lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage with me within the 18 months before the wedding and no later than a calendar month & a day before. Prior to the wedding I need to see your eligibility documents (birth certificates, divorce decrees, death certificates, etc., where applicable). If you were born outside Australia & cannot provide an original birth record, I can accept your foreign passport as evidence of date & place of birth or advise you on completing a statutory declaration for your birth details.

How Long Does a Ceremony Take?

It’s your decision. What’s important is time to include what you want & to have variety & interest along with the necessary legal requirements.  Don’t worry about time. An enjoyable ceremony may take a half hour or more (but seems like 10 minutes!). Badly presented, boring ceremonies feel as though they take hours!

Where & When can we hold our Wedding?

Australia’s about the best place to marry. Choose any day, anywhere, any time and pretty much anyhow. Romantic Chapels, Stately homes, Gardens, Parks, Zoos, restaurants, hotels, Tram Restaurant, River Cruises or your special wedding at home - it’s entirely up to you.

How do you deliver the wedding - Do you make Jokes?

Jokes are out of place - humour can be appreciated - if it’s appropriate. Presentation style is the key to a successful wedding.  It’s the difference between a great wedding and one you’d rather forget. Weddings should be a happy occasion - a celebration - not dull and boring. Don’t you agree?

Can we have a Rehearsal onsite ?

Yes, you should. It’s important for you as well as your wedding party, readers, parents - all with a role in your ceremony. Everyone feels so much better after an onsite rehearsal and it shows on the day!

Can we include children in our wedding?

Whether they’re attendant flower girls, page boys or your own children they can certainly play a key role in your ceremony. We can discuss ways to include them so they have a special place & recognition in the wedding.

Can we have either a Civil or a Religious Wedding (or a bit of each)?

Of course you can. Many people choose a celebrant specifically because they don’t want religious material. For others, religious recognition & content is important. You can certainly include observances or elements from your beliefs, culture and traditions.

Do we have to Register with the Registry Office or obtain a Marriage Licence?

No you don’t. Just lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage with me (I have the forms) and I’ll look after everything for you including lodging documents for registration. You may need to apply for your Official Certificate from Births Deaths & Marriages for certain legal purposes.
